Pacific Rim is set in a future where humanity is under attack by monstrous creatures known as Kaijus, which emerge from a portal beneath the Pacific Ocean. To combat these threats, the world's nations come together to form the Jaeger Program, a defense initiative that relies on giant humanoid robots called Jaegers, each controlled by a pair of human pilots who share a neural connection. The story follows Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam), a former Jaeger pilot who teams up with Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), a rookie pilot, to operate the Jaeger Gipsy Danger.
