Unlike the "damsel in distress" who waits for a savior, Mei often tries to resolve situations herself, even if her attempts are clumsy or ineffective against magic. By 2020, crossed over into mainstream anime. Her breakout television role was as Rin Sasaki in the romance-drama "Summer Dream Machine" . Rin was a terminally ill artist who refused treatment to finish her final painting.
