1. Check Windows 11 License Transferability If Windows 11 came pre-installed (OEM license)

Tied to the original computer’s motherboard – cannot transfer. You’ll need a new license for the new PC.

If you bought a retail license

Transferable – you can move it to a new PC. Find your product key:

Command Prompt (Admin): wmic path softwarelicensingservice get OA3xOriginalProductKey

Or check email/purchase receipt.

2. Deactivate License on Old PC (Retail Only)

On old PC, open Settings > System > Activation . If linked to Microsoft account, click “Troubleshoot” → “I changed hardware on this device recently” → select old PC → Remove . Or run as Admin: slmgr /upk slmgr /cpky
